Frankfurt vs West Ham Preview: 5 April, 21:00

West Ham will be looking to take their revenge on Germany`s Frankfurt as they face in the second leg of the Europa League Semifinals at the Deutsche Bank Park!

Frankfurt

Frankfurt put on an impressive performance last week under the pressure of the London Stadium. The first-leg went in the Eagles` favour fairly quickly with Ansgar Knauff finding the back of the net within the first minute and Daichi Kamada finding their second goal, cancelling out Michail Antonio`s equalizer. Frankfurt put on a disciplined performance to keep the Hammers at bay, but some could say they left London with a first-leg advantage by mere luck as the hosts were denied by the woodwork on a couple of occasions. Domestically Oliver Glasner`s side have had a dismal season – now finding themselves in the 11th position after failing to secure a single win in their last 6 Bundesliga games with a recent 2-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen. Although their Bundesliga campaign can already be forgotten, the Eagles seem to have their full focus on the Europa League having gone 11 matches unbeaten in this year`s competition and it will take a special effort from the Hammers if they are to get past the Frankfurt side.

West Ham

West Ham was inches away from going into the second-leg with a draw rather than a loss. Similarly to their opponents, the Hammers have now seemingly shifted their full focus onto the European competition, now finding themselves in 7th spot on the Premier league table with a 6 point gap from Manchester United. West Ham failed to boost their morale over the weekend, losing 2-1 to neighbouring Arsenal and extending their winless streak across all competitions to 4 games. Although they are capable of finding the back of the net, their backline creates ample opportunities for the opposing sides to capitalize on, which Frankfurt will be looking to do again this evening. Overall, West Ham has huge pressure to perform this evening as an exit from the European competition will further extend their unimpressive form and be the end to next season`s Champions League aspirations.

Verdict

Both sides have leaks within their respective defences, while on the other side of the pitch they are both able to create ample scoring opportunities. Frankfurt has showed us their abilities at the London Stadium and will definitely be more difficult to beat on the home ground, but it is far too early to rule West Ham out. Expect a game full of action and ample goals.
