FA Cup Final – Liverpool vs Chelsea Preview: 14th of May, 17:45

Liverpool and Chelsea clash heads at the Wembley Stadium tomorrow afternoon with the FA Cup trophy on the line!

Liverpool

Liverpool put on a dominant performance against Manchester City in the Semifinals to get to the prestigious FA Cup Final and can potentially tick the second trophy off the list on Saturday night in their Quadruple chase. After securing their spot in the Champions League final, Liverpool dropped 2 points in their Premier League title race against Manchester City, but made a quick recovery on Tuesday beating Aston Villa 2-0. Liverpool is bringing a 15-games unbeaten streak to the Wembley Stadium, and has overall lost just one game since December.  Their attacking force of Luis Diaz, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane have consistently been on the scoresheet so far this season and this trio will most likely cause a lot of problems for the Chelsea defence. However, in all of the 3 encounters against London`s Blues this season, Liverpool have failed to secure a victory having drawn all 3 of their recent clashes including a draw in the EFL Cup Final within the first 90 minutes, which they went on to win on penalties and is therefore unlikely to have an effortless win on the day.

Chelsea

Chelsea season has been slippery this season. The London outfit has failed to maintain it`s Champions League crown, going out to a dramatic recovery by the Real Madrid side in the Quarterfinals and their once comfortable 3rd spot on the Premier League table has now come under slight pressure. Nevertheless, the Blues took their FA Cup Final task seriously, preparing by making an impressive recovery to their shaky form with a 3-0 victory against Leeds. The Blues have managed to even out the playing field against a high-flying Liverpool side this season and held the Reds to 3 draws within the first 90 minutes and are more than capable of giving Klopp a serious challenge. Additionally, Chelsea will certainly be hungry to take their revenge on Liverpool for their EFL Cup Final defeat in February.  Chelsea`s frontline has put on some impressive performances recently - Romelu Lukaku and Mason Mount will be the danger men to watch out for on Saturday afternoon.

Verdict

The FA Cup Final marks the 192nd meeting between Chelsea and Liverpool. Chelsea has been one of the very few sides in England this season that are able to stand up to the seemingly unstoppable Liverpool team. Liverpool does have an advantage of more rested key players, but we definitely expect an open-ended game at Wembley with both sides going all out for the trophy.
