European Football Treble, Sunday 9th May

Leg 1 Aston Villa v Manchester United

We start at Villa Park where Aston Villa take on a Manchester United side who remain unbeaten on their Premier League travels.

Villa moved back into the top half of the table with an excellent 2-1 win at Everton last week. That victory suggests they are looking for a strong finish to the season even though qualifying for European football next term looks beyond them. Villa's last 5 league games have seen backers of over 2.5 goals and both teams to score collect and they now seek revenge on United who beat them 2-1 in the first league meeting at Old Trafford at the turn of the year.

United were in Europa League action on Thursday and by the time they take to the field here their neighbours Manchester City could well have been crowned champions. United are still looking good for the runners up spot and with an away record currently comprising of 10 wins and 7 draws they could well go through the whole season without losing Premier League a road trip.

The trend in recent Villa games is for goals and we look to get our treble on the board with 3 or more in this game.

Selection: Over 2.5 goals

Leg 2 West Ham v Everton

West Ham come into the weekend program 3 points behind fourth placed Chelsea who are in action at Manchester City 24 hours before this game takes place. The carrot of a top 4 finish and potentially Champions League qualification is still very much alive after a 2-1 win at Burnley last time out. Considering West Ham have kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 league games they are holding up remarkably well and they now look to complete a double over Everton whom they beat 1-0 at Goodison Park earlier in the season.

Everton shot themselves in the foot again last week, losing 2-1 at home to Villa but they are a much better side when they travel. They bring the fourth best away record in the top flight to London in the knowledge that victory here would see them move just 3 points behind West Ham and they would still have a game in hand.

The lack of clean sheets for West Ham is a factor in our pick of both teams to register a goal in this game.

Selection: Both teams to score

Leg 3 Real Madrid v Sevilla

Sunday night's clash in Madrid is another huge match in the La Liga title race. Heading into the weekend Atletico were 2 points clear of Real and Barcelona with 4 rounds of matches remaining. A day before this game takes place Barca host Atletico and that means at least one of Real's rivals will drop points.

Real are tasked with shrugging off the disappointment of a Champions League exit at Chelsea on Wednesday. The title now takes on even greater importance but they will have to be on top of their game to take maximum points.

Sevilla are fourth in the standings and only 4 points behind Real. They had been steadily making up ground on the title chasers but last week they were beaten 1-0 at home by Athletic Bilbao, ending a run of 8 wins and 1 draw.

Sevilla will still consider themselves as title contenders still but last weeks loss was major blow and a visit to Real, who beat them 1-0 in the earlier league meeting this season, is no easy task. Real's exertions in the Champions League in midweek are of some concern but they have won each of the last 4 La Liga clashes with Sevilla and we pin our hopes on that trend continuing.

Selection: Real Madrid to win
