Tight affair at Palace expected

Crystal Palace take on Hull City on Sunday lunchtime in a relegation six pointer with goals expected to be at a premium.
A win or draw for Sam Allardyce’s Palace would ensure his reputation for having never been relegated in England remains intact, while a defeat would see them dragged back into the survival dogfight.

Marco Silva’s men on the other hand need a win to keep Palace in the mix at the foot of the table going into the final weekend, although a draw would take them out of the bottom three if Swansea loose to already relegated Sunderland on Saturday.

With so much at stake you can expect a nervy affair at Selhurst Park and not a lot of goals so the under 2.5 goals market looks to be the pick of the bets.

Palace’s home record is poor and only the already relegated Sunderland have picked up fewer points on their home soil, although they recently put Arsenal to the sword at Selhurst Park.

The former England manager has suggested a point will do so it will not be a hell for leather encounter.

He said: "When I came into the building in December the players were told its about not losing, its about stopping defeats and making sure if we don’t win then don’t lose.

"That was difficult up until recent months and has been extremely difficult in the last three games so my message would be ‘Hold Your Nerve’ and make sure you produce your best performance with an understanding of how we need to play against Hull City to try and win the game."

Meanwhile Hull’s away record is also poor and again only relegated Sunderland and Burnley, who mathematically could still go down ahead of the weekend fixtures, have picked up fewer points on their travels.

They have scored just nine away from home so the chances of them adding significantly to that tally on Sunday is unlikely but boss Marco Silva says they will be going all out for a win.

"When we were out of the bottom three I said the same thing; it will be a fight until the end," said Silva. "That is my opinion and we will fight. I believe in us.

"These (last two games) are like finals at this moment and the next game is important. We need to win the game and we will work hard to win the game. We have to do our best."
