English Football Treble, Saturday 3 April
English Football Treble, Saturday 3 April
Leg 1 Huddersfield v Brentford

Huddersfield are unbeaten in their last 4 although 3 of those games have finished all square and going further back they have won just 2 of their last 15. That leaves them facing a nervous run in and they have scored just 3 goals in their last 6.

Brentford will have an eye on Friday's matches to see how their rivals for promotion get on. Table toppers Norwich look home and hosed but coming into the Easter program Brentford were 7 points behind second placed Watford and they have a game in hand. They have been hit and miss over the course of the last 10 matches but when they put it together they are a real handful and they breezed past Huddersfield (3-0) in the first meeting this season.

This is the sort of game Brentford have to win if they are to challenge for automatic promotion and against a side who find goals hard to come by, we side with Brentford to get our treble underway.

Selection: Brentford to win

Leg 2 Leicester v Manchester City

Leicester's home form has been inconsistent this season as illustrated by recent matches at the King Power which saw them beat Liverpool 3-1 and then lose to Arsenal by the same scoreline. The most recent home game was an FA Cup quarter final against Manchester United which Leicester also won 3-1 and they now take aim at the league leaders whom they thrashed 5-2 in Manchester in the first meeting this season back in September.

City are a very different proposition now than they were in the early stages of the campaign and victory here would open up a 17 point gap at the top of the log. They are still very much in the mix for 4 trophies this season and since a rare defeat at home to United in the derby they have bounced back with comfortable wins at home to Southampton (5-2) and away at Fulham (3-0).

City rarely fire blanks and they are no strangers to keeping clean sheets but Leicester have the quality to make this a real test and we fancy the home side can contribute to the scoring.

Selection: Both teams to score

Leg 3 Arsenal v Liverpool

We finish at the Emirates with another high profile match. Arsenal are 9 points off a top 4 place and continue to frustrate their coach, most recently conceding 3 early goals away to West Ham before fighting back to claim a point. Recent wins at Leicester (3-1) and at home to Spurs (2-1) in the North London derby provide the encouragement but the Gunners haven't kept a clean sheet in any of their last 9 league games.

Liverpool's jaw dropping sequence of home defeats is well documented but even though they have slid out of the top 4 their away record is still impressive and they have done well in London this season, winning at Chelsea (2-0), Palace (7-0) , Spurs (3-1) and West Ham (3-1). Coming into the weekend program Liverpool were 5 points behind fourth placed Chelsea and they have little margin for error if they are to get back into the top 4.

Liverpool won the first league meeting this season 3-1 at Anfield and 9 of the last 10 Premier League head to heads with the Gunners have delivered for backers of over 2.5 goals, an outcome we are siding with here.

Selection: Over 2.5 goals
