Chelsea vs Leicester Preview: 19th May, 21:00

Chelsea will be looking to seal the 3rd spot on the Premier League table on Thursday evening when they take on Leicester City.

Chelsea

Chelsea seems to have found its Premier League groove again after beating Leeds 3-0 in their previous match. The Blues began to drop points from late April, drawing to Manchester United and Wolves and losing to Everton, but goals from Christian Pulisic, Romelu Lukaku and Mason Mount  and Arsenal`s loss to Newcastle have put them in a spot in the 2022/2023 Champions League campaign. Chelsea`s celebrations did not last long as they let yet another trophy slip into the hands of Liverpool during their FA Cup bout, just 3 month after they lost the EFL Cup Final to Klopp`s side. Going back to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea has won just 4 of the last 12 home games, but managed to score in all of the last 12 home clashes. Although they did lose the FA Cup on penalties, Tuchel`s side showed enough resilience to keep the high-flying Liverpool outfit at bay for 120 minutes and taking on Leicester can potentially be a less-challenging task.

Leicester

Leicester has had a season the team will certainly look to put in the past very quickly. The Foxes have now missed out on any 2022/2023 European competition and have been knocked out of the UEFA Conference League to Jose Mourinho`s Roma. Nevertheless, their last 2 games can play as indication that Rodger`s side still have the desire to finish the remainder of the season off on a good note. Leicester recovered from their 7-games loss streak across all competition with impressive an impressive 3-0 victory over Norwich and a 5-1 thrashing of Watford. Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and Harvey Barnes got themselves on the scoresheet on Sunday afternoon and the same trio can be expected to cause problems for Tuchel`s side. Although the team is enjoying a run of wins and will most likely put up a fight against Chelsea, it is difficult to see them keeping their winning momentum against the strong London outfit.

Verdict

Tuchel will definitely demand a quick response from his side following a heart-wrenching FA Cup exit. Leicester did put 8 goals past 2 sides; however, Norwich and Watford are sitting on the opposite sides of the Premier league table to Chelsea and a trip to London is unlikely to go as effortless.
